'Bricks as Image' 5 - Michelle Lee

RAILWAY SQUARE POST OFFICE, HAYMARKET

The old Post Office building consists of English bonds with raked joints. The terracotta-coloured bricks have a wire cut surface texture, having straight edges with a slightly rough texture. The building incorporates a constant patterning of a row of recessed bricks after every four rows. The bricks are structural as the whole building is mostly made from bricks which are supporting it to stay up.
There are nice, delicate touches to this building, with the edges having a distinct curved shape, all created from bricks. The bricks have been well-maintained with very few defects.
