brick image- sandra---3
The Supreme Court of NSW building has been through some series of refurbishment and restoration. The King St entrance has newer and slightly darker coloured bricks however retaining the same style of brickwork and arches. The building has flush joints with flemish bond. The entrance has visible newly fixed mortar joints.
This is a garden wall but what I'm looking at is the unusual textural patterning of vertical incisions and scattered indents. Even the colour of the bricks are used as a patterning effect with each brick containing spots or patches of two or more colours of reddish to brown tones. There also appears to a semi-gloss finishing to the surface of the bricks.
Bond: stretcher
Joint: raked
